Grow: Coming February

Published on: October 3, 2024

Editor’s Note: this is the first of many updates to associates from Executive Officer of Human Resources, Gary Burrus, on the Choctaw Nation’s new talent development initiative, “Grow”:

Halito, I am excited to share with you information about the upcoming Grow Initiative! You will be receiving regular communications as we work towards the targeted February 2025 launch of this initiative.

From Gallup’s Voice of Associate survey, we consistently heard and highlighted that our associates’ desire more career development opportunities. In response, the Talent Management Team is taking action with the Grow Initiative, which will provide educational programs to help associates develop in their current roles, focusing on key skills and development opportunities, while also providing the opportunity to mature competencies and skills geared toward future roles at the Choctaw Nation. Grow is vital to the success of the Choctaw Nation, some of the key benefits include:

  • Cultivates a culture of continuous learning, organizational enablement, and operational excellence that empowers the daily growth and prosperity of our people.
  • Allows you to understand the competencies, skills, and experience needed for your role.
  • Ability to identify learning and development opportunities in your current and future roles.
  • Streamlines and drives consistency in performance management, individual development plans, and succession planning.
  • Contributes to one of Choctaw Nation’s Tribal Strategies of Becoming the Employer of Choice.

What is Grow?

Grow is a talent management application within Hoshonti that leverages AI to empower associates with the opportunity to develop skills and reach their full potential, while providing knowledge to business leaders and HR to best guide the organization. Grow was specifically designed to support associate development and career growth. The application has an entire range of features that will take you on a journey to your desired position and enable organizational support as you continue to grow and advance at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.

Will I receive training for Grow?

All associates will be provided learning in Hoshonti. Participation in these upcoming trainings will help you to better understand how to maximize your potential and access the professional development resources in Grow. More details regarding training will be made available at a later date.

Where are we in the project?

We kicked off the Grow Initiative in January of 2024. We have since finalized business requirements and began developing the new software. The HR and Hoshonti project team is working meticulously to develop, maximize, and integrate the system’s capabilities into the Choctaw Nation’s business processes and operations. The launch of this initiative is targeted for February 2025.

We have also formed the Sponsor Coalition to assist with the alignment and guidance of project updates. This well-versed team consists of leadership across the Choctaw Nation aimed at providing you with more information and addressing any questions.

Where can I get more information about this initiative?

The Associate site and Associate News Digest will provide you with the most up-to-date project information —including but not limited to the progress of the project, how we will prepare you for the changes coming, and training information. Keep an eye out for more information to come!

How Can I Get Involved?

We would love to hear from you! In preparation for the implementation of Grow, we have crafted a Pulse Survey to gauge associate readiness. This survey will enable the project team to fill communication gaps, prepare you for this much needed application, and ensure that all associates are supported as we embark on this exciting journey together. Please take a couple of minutes to fill out the Grow Pulse Survey from Gallup on July 8, 2024.

Yakoke for taking the time to learn more about this initiative and we look forward to sharing these new capabilities with you!
