Gary Burrus, Executive Officer of Human Resources, has announced the promotion of Dara McCoy to Executive Director of Learning and Organizational Development. Dara has most recently been serving the Choctaw Nation as Senior Director of the HR Associate Experience team where she led many successful initiatives including the launch of the popular “Achievers” recognition platform while also serving as a key driver of the Voice of the Associate Survey and action plan process and primary communications partner for the “HR Newsletter for Leaders” publication.

“I am pleased to announce this well-earned promotion for Dara,” Gary says. “She’s a proven HR leader who has an exceptional track record of achieving key goals and business results for the Choctaw Nation. I’m confident Dara’s ability to turn our HR vision into successful achievements will continue in this important new executive management role for her as she leads the Learning & Development and Organizational Development teams.”

In addition to her work with the Associate Experience team, Dara has also held Choctaw Nation leadership roles in the Divisions of Communications (Executive Director) and Finance (Senior Director) and has also worked as a member of the CNO Grants team.

Dara holds a master’s degree in Native American Leadership Studies from Southeastern Oklahoma State University after earning her bachelor’s degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Oklahoma State University.

Dara is a Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma tribal member, proud descendant of a World War I Choctaw Code Talker and grew up within the Choctaw Nation’s reservation in Pushmataha County. She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her two daughters, Katie and Claire.

Adds Gary, “Please join me in congratulating Dara on this promotion to Executive Director of Learning and Organizational Development!”
