Stop Sawing

Psalm 37:7
“Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.”
Do you find yourself in a fast-paced world and you feel you must keep up? When you look over your shoulders, some competitor is ready to pass you? Do you feel burnt out and would like to refresh your role of work in your life? There is a story that reflects the need for renewal and reawakening in our lives. Suppose you come upon a man in the woods feverishly sawing down a tree. He looks exhausted so you ask him how long he has been sawing this one tree. He replies, “Over five hours, and I’m exhausted and beat.” You suggest, “Maybe you should take a break and sharpen that saw. Then the work would go faster.” “ No time, “He replies, “ I’m too busy sawing.” To sharpen the saw means to renew the four aspects of our nature. They are the physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions.
